Webmail Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does Expunge do and why do I have to use it everytime? or How do I delete email? A: Expunge is a feature that will allow an extra step in the deletion process of an e-mail. This feature will insure that a customer will not delete an e-mail that they wanted to keep. There is no way to remove this feature. In order to delete email simply check the email that you want to delete in the email list and click the delete button or if viewing the email simply click the delete option at the top left of the email. Once the email(s) is marked for deletion in this way all you have to do is click the expunge button to remove all messages marked for deletion. TopQ: Why did you change to SquirrelMail? A: The old webmail system was buggy and no longer supported. Therefore, we were not able to get the bug fixes and updates that we feel will improve your webmail experience. TopQ: I am using <insert web browser program name> and having problems accessing webmail. A: Please insure that your browser is listed at http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/en_US/SupportedBrowsers. If your browser is listed, please contact our support department with the full error message for further support. TopQ: My e-mails are grey and boring looking. They used to have colors. What has changed? A: To change this setting, click on Options at the top of webmail. Then click on Display Preferences. Scroll down to "Show HTML Version by Default:" and choose Yes. Click on Submit at the bottom. TopQ: Everytime I log into webmail, it keeps asking for information. How can I correct this? A: Fill out the information and click on Submit. Once the information is saved, you will not be asked again for it. If you wish to change any of this imformation, click on Options at the top of webmail and choose Personal Information. TopQ: When I try to compose, reply, or forward a message I get a "javascript" error. A1: If you are composing a message: click on Options at the top of webmail and choose Display Preferences. Scroll down to "Compose Messages in New Window:" and choose No. A2: If you are replying/forwarding a message: click on Options > Display preferences. In the Use Javascript box, choose Always and click on Submit at the bottom. Choose Sign Out. Click "Click here to log back in." After logging back into webmail, the problem should be resolved. TopQ: When I change an option, it does not take effect. What should I do? A: Once you are brought back to the Options page, you will see a "Refresh Page" link. Click that and the settings will take effect. TopQ: How can I see the size of my emails? A: Click on "Options" and then click on "Index Folder". Then chose "Size" from the drop down menu and then click on "Add". Then click "Refresh Folder List" under the day and time. TopQ: How can I make my fonts bigger/smaller? A: Click on "Options" and click on "Display Preferences". Then click on the drop down menu for "Custom Stylesheet". You will be given a total of six options to chose from. You will have to pick each one individaul that best suits your needs and or eyes. TopQ: Images inside an HTML message have been edited out for security reasons. How do I view these emails with the images still in the email? A: At the bottom of the message you will see a link to "View Unsafe Images."

A: This happens when a setting has been changed under the Options and Folder Preferences section. To correct this simply click Options and then Folder Preferences and change the setting of the Trash Folder selection to (Do not use Trash) or select the correct folder and hit submit. TopQ: Why is the date not shown or I can't see the complete date on some of the messages in my Inbox? A: *If the message was received on the day you are checking your mail, it will appear as the time (ie: 12:00 pm) |
