10 Digit Dialing/Areacode Change

Please choose your operating system to view instructions on how to dial the area code (Effective March 14th, 2005):


Windows 98
To make the NETDOOR connection use the area code:

  1. Click the 'Start button'
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Click 'Control Panel'
  4. Click 'Modems'
  5. Click on Dialing Properties
  6. Enter 601 in the area code field
  7. Click on 'Area Code Rules'
  8. Check 'Always dial the area code (10-digit dialing)'
  9. Click OK out of everything and close the Control Panel.
  10. Click 'My Computer' on the 'Desktop'
  11. Click 'Dial-Up Networking'
  12. Right click on 'NETDOOR'
  13. Left click on 'Properties'
  14. Check 'Use area code and dialing properties'
  15. Make sure 601 is entered in the area code field before the number
  16. Click OK

Windows 2000
To make the NETDOOR connection use the area code:

  1. Click the 'Start button'
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Click 'Control Panel'
  4. Click ' Network and Dial-Up Connections'
  5. Right click on 'NETDOOR'
  6. Left click on 'Properties'
  7. Check 'Use dialing rules'
  8. Make sure 601 is entered in the area code field before the number
  9. Click on the Rules button
  10. Click on My Location and then click the Edit button
  11. Make sure 601 is entered in the area code field
  12. Click on the Area Code Rules tab
  13. Click on the New button
  14. Enter the area code 601. Check "Include the area code" and then click on the OK button.

Windows ME
To make the NETDOOR connection use the area code:

  1. Click the 'Start button'
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Click 'Control Panel'
  4. Click 'Modems'
  5. Click on Dialing Properties
  6. Enter 601 in the area code field
  7. Click on 'Area Code Rules'
  8. Check 'Always dial the area code (10-digit dialing)'
  9. Click OK back to the Control Panel.
  10. Click 'Dial-Up Networking'
  11. Right click on 'NETDOOR'
  12. Left click on 'Properties'
  13. Check 'Use area code and dialing properties'
  14. Make sure 601 is entered in the area code field before the number
  15. Click OK

Windows XP Classic View
To make the NETDOOR connection use the area code:

  1. Click the 'Start button'
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Click 'Control Panel'
  4. Click 'Network Connections'
  5. Right click on 'NETDOOR'
  6. Left click on 'Properties'
  7. Check 'Use dialing rules'
  8. Make sure 601 is entered in the area code field before the number
  9. Click on the Dialing Rules button
  10. Click on My Location and then click the Edit button
  11. Make sure 601 is entered in the area code field
  12. Click on the Area Code Rules tab
  13. Click on the New button
  14. Enter the area code 601. Check "Include the area code" and then click on the OK button.

Windows XP Category View
To make the NETDOOR connection use the area code:

  1. Click the 'Start button'
  2. Click 'Control Panel'
  3. Click 'Network and Internet Connections'
  4. Click 'Network Connections'
  5. Right click on 'NETDOOR'
  6. Left click on 'Properties'
  7. Check 'Use dialing rules'
  8. Make sure 601 is entered in the area code field before the number
  9. Click on the Dialing Rules button
  10. Click on My Location and then click the Edit button
  11. Make sure 601 is entered in the area code field
  12. Click on the Area Code Rules tab
  13. Click on the New button
  14. Enter the area code 601. Check "Include the area code" and then click on the OK button.

Mac OSX
To make the NETDOOR connection use the area code:

  1. Click the Apple Menu
  2. Click 'System Properties'
  3. Click 'Network'
  4. Make sure the 'Configure' dropdown has your modem selected
  5. Click the 'PPP' Tab
  6. Add '601' to the beginning of the number in the 'Telephone number' field.
  7. (For 10.2) Click Save, Then close System Preferences
    (For 10.3) Close System Preferences, click save when prompted.
