Relaying Denied(Error 550)

I get a "relaying denied (error 550)" message when I try to send e-mail, but I can get the incoming just fine.

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients
was rejected by the server. the rejected email address was
   'someusername@somedomain.com'.Subject: 'blah', Account :
   'SomeAccoutName', Server: 'whatever.somedomain.com,' Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '550 Relaying is prohibited', .....

This error message indicates that you are not currently dialed up to NETDOOR, yet you are utilizing our mail server to send mail. You shouldn't have any problems checking your email, however this will only occur when you try to send email.

To correct this problem, you can do one of two things:

  1. Connect to NETDOOR when you try sending/receiving email.
  2. Change your outgoing mail server to reflect the service you are dialing up to.
