How to Manually Setup Connection to Netdoor

NETDOOR provides this documentation as a support tool for customers choosing to manually setup their connection to NETDOOR. Manually configuring your connection entitles you to limited technical support, such as the necessary host information needed and suggestions. In order to receive full technical support, we require that customers have a copy of our free NETDOOR Advantage Pack CD.

The following pages contain image maps of what your Windows ME configuration should look similar to when it is properly configured for use with Netdoor. You can click on each image as if you were looking at your own settings. In this way you can choose which settings you wish to examine.

Click here to see the standard configuration of Windows ME Dial-Up Networking for use with NETDOOR. To check or change these settings click the Start button, select Settings, click Dial-up Networking, right mouse click on the Netdoor icon, and then select Properties.

Setting Up a Dial Up Networking connection

  1. Click the Start button, select Settings and then Dial-up Networking.
  2. Inside Dial-up Networking, double click on Make New Connection.
  3. In the Type a name for the computer you are dialing box, type the name of the computer you want to connect to. In this case, type in the word NETDOOR.
  4. In the Select a device box, click the modem to use to connect to the remote computer.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Now you will be asked for information about the location you are dialing. Leave the Area Code box empty. Enter the appropriate access number into the Telephone Number box.
  7. In the Country or region code box, click on the country where the computer you are calling resides.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Finished.
  10. Close all opened windows and return to the desktop.
  11. Click the Start button, select Settings and then Dial-up Networking.
  12. Inside Dial-up Networking, right click on the NETDOOR icon and select Properties.
  13. Click on the Networking tab.
  14. Uncheck Logon to Network.
  15. Uncheck Net BEUI and IPX/SPX.
  16. Click the TCP/IP Settings... button.
  17. Select the Specify Name Server Addresses option.
  18. For the Primary DNS, enter 206.41.228.8
  19. For the Secondary DNS, enter 206.41.228.6
  20. Click OK.
  21. Click OK.
  22. Your dial-up connection is now set.
